When it’s time to book a day at sea in Cambrils, almost everyone wrestles with the same thing: do I take a boat I can drive myself without a licence, or book one with a skipper on board? Both options are good; they just suit different plans. Here we put them side by side.

La Bond: you at the helm, no licence

La Bond is a 4-metre boat with a 15 HP engine that you can operate with no licence at all: you just need your ID and to be of legal age. Before you set off we walk you through the basics in about 15 minutes, and the boat is yours for the day.

It’s the option for anyone who wants the experience of driving and an easy plan close to the coast: cruise at your own pace, anchor wherever you fancy and swim off the deck.

For it:

  • No licence and no previous experience: just ID.
  • Fuel included in the price.
  • The most affordable option.
  • You set the pace and pick the spot.

Worth knowing:

  • You drive (lots of people love it, but some would rather not).
  • Coastal range: ideal for nearby days, not for going far.

La Niña: with a skipper or your licence, more boat

La Niña is an 80 HP Quicksilver 505: bigger, faster and with more range. To drive it you need a boating licence… or you book it with a professional skipper for a supplement, and then you don’t have to drive at all.

It’s the option for anyone who wants to go further, reach coves outside the no-licence range, or simply relax completely while someone else runs the boat.

For it:

  • With a skipper you need no licence: hop on and enjoy.
  • Faster and with more range: you reach more coves.
  • Comfortable for a day where you worry about nothing.

Worth knowing:

  • Without a skipper, you need your boating licence.
  • Fuel is paid separately based on consumption.
  • A somewhat higher starting price, and the skipper is an extra.

How to choose between the two

To decide quickly, think about what matters most to you:

  • I want to drive and an easy, affordable plan → La Bond.
  • I have no licence and don’t want to drive → La Niña with a skipper.
  • I hold the licence and want more boat and more range → La Niña, you at the helm.
  • We’re a family, an easy day close to the coast → La Bond.
  • We want to reach further coves or go faster → La Niña.

There’s no “better” option: there’s the one that fits the day you have in mind. Both leave from Club Nàutic de Cambrils, both carry insurance, safety gear, a cooler, a nautical map and a sun shade, and both are booked online with instant confirmation and free cancellation up to 48h before.

In short

If you fancy taking the helm with no paperwork, La Bond is your boat. If you’d rather be driven or you want more range, La Niña — with a skipper or your licence — is the answer. Take a calm look at both pages: La Bond and La Niña.
